a path to change

about dbt

Incorporating Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) into my therapeutic approach, enables me to provide comprehensive support for individuals navigating complex emotions, interpersonal challenges, and self-destructive behaviors. By integrating DBT, I offer clients practical skills and strategies to manage distress, regulate emotions, improve relationships, and cultivate a fulfilling life. DBT equips clients with the tools they need to cope effectively with life's ups and downs while fostering resilience and promoting personal growth. As a therapist dedicated to empowering individuals to thrive, integrating DBT enriches my practice and empowers clients to achieve meaningful and sustainable change.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) consists of four main categories:

1. Mindfulness: These skills help individuals become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations in the present moment without judgment. This involves observing, describing, and participating fully in experiences without getting caught up in past regrets or future worries.

2. Distress tolerance: skills are designed to help individuals tolerate and survive crises without making the situation worse. These skills include distraction techniques, self-soothing activities, and acceptance strategies to manage intense emotions and distressing situations.

3. Emotion Regulation: Individuals learn how to identify, understand, and manage their emotions in healthy ways. This involves recognizing emotional triggers, increasing positive emotions, decreasing negative emotions, and effectively coping with emotional ups and downs.

4. Interpersonal Effectiveness: Focus on improving communication and relationship skills. This includes learning how to assertively express needs and boundaries, how to effectively negotiate and problem-solve in relationships, and how to maintain self-respect while interacting with others.
